Target: A.C. Gallo, President and COO of Whole Foods Market,
While recently shopping at Whole Foods, I was dismayed to notice that Whole Foods sells eggs from Amish farms. Perhaps Whole Foods is unaware that the Amish are one of the most prolific perpetrators of puppy mills, which are sites of truly horrific living conditions, abuse, and often death for dogs. The puppies that come from puppy mills are often fraught with disease and health issues, and the dogs who are stuck there as “breeders” live a life most of us wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies. You can read more here: http://www.thepuppymillproject.org/amish-puppy-mills/ or here: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=7187712&page=1
This practice is heartbreaking and disgusting, and what’s more, there is absolutely no justification for it. I have to assume Whole Foods would not want to support puppy mills, which is what they are doing by carrying Amish eggs.
Please join me in urging Whole Foods to stop selling eggs (or any products if they carry others) that come from Amish farms.
