Target: Programming director at CNN,
This series is a video documentary exploring places most people have not visited, or places undergoing revolution or dangerous situations. Anthony Bourdain, a chef, takes us on journeys deep into wonderful stories, letting us get to know local peoples, villages or societies.
About two-thirds of the way through many of the 1-hour episodes, the story often comes around to show how the locals get their food. It is apparently not sufficient to simply show the raw meat being prepared for cooking – he often has to take us on a hunt, or out to a farm, and wrestle a live animal to the ground, hearing it scream for its life, tie it up or hold it down, while the locals graphically kill the animal right on camera, gore, blood and all.
At this point I always change the channel and not watch any more CNN content, sometimes for hours or even days. I don’t see the commercials on CNN for this entire time, so their revenues must suffer. We respectfully demand the producers to leave out these horrific scenes, or take this show off the air.
