Target: Javier Gonzales, Mayor Santa Fe, New Mexico
Goal: Fire the paramedic accused of stealing a debit card while responding to a call and using it after the patient died.
Paramedic Michael Harcharik has been arrested on suspicion of theft and fraudulent debit card use. Harcharik, in his role as a paramedic, responded to a call from Allan Pearson. Police suspect it was during that time that Harcharik stole Pearson’s debit card. Pearson is also suspected of using the card to make purchases after Pearson died from diabetes complications.
Pearson’s daughter, Rebecca, discovered her father’s card had been used several times after his death when she went to close the account. The PIN was written on the card due to her father’s ailing memory. Pearson’s card was frozen and police were contacted. Following their investigation, Harcharik was arrested, but the city has allowed him to remain on “alternate duy.”
Demand Harcharik is suspended pending trial and fired if found guilty of these charges.
Dear Mayor Gonzales,
A paramedic in your community has allegedly stolen from a citizen he’s sworn to help. Michael Harcharik responded to call from Allan Pearson and is accused of stealing his debit card during the course of that response. Harcharik is further accused of using the card after Pearson died from diabetes complications.
Pearson’s daughter discovered the fraudulent charges when she went to close her father’s account and contacted police. Harcharik has been allowed to remain on “alternate duty” while the investigation and trial progress.
We demand Harcharik is suspended pending the the outcome of the trial and fired if found guilty of these charges.
