Free Woman Imprisoned for Having an Abortion

Target: Arlene Foster, First Minister of Northern Ireland

Goal: Free woman who was imprisoned for inducing her own miscarriage.

An unnamed woman is facing three months in prison for inducing her own miscarriage. The woman was unable to procure an abortion legally due to strict anti-choice laws in Northern Ireland. Demand that Northern Ireland pardon this woman and eliminate this antiquated anti-abortion law.

The woman wanted to travel to England, where abortion is legal, but could not afford it. Instead, she purchased two drugs that would cause an abortion. After successfully ending her pregnancy, the desperate woman hid the 12-week-old fetus in the trash. Her roommates found it and reported her to authorities.

The 150-year-old anti-abortion law called for a life sentence. The judge amended the sentence, given the extremity. However, the entire law is a threat to the women of Northern Ireland. Illegal abortion is dangerous and often life threatening. Demand that Northern Ireland free this woman and abolish this archaic law.

Dear Minister Foster,

A woman is facing three months in prison after she initiated her own abortion. Desperate and out of options, the woman ingested drugs that could have caused her serious harm. We demand that you abolish the antiquated anti-abortion law that caused this and release this woman immediately.

The woman could not afford to travel to England to have a legal procedure. Instead, she procured drugs meant to induce a miscarriage. The desperate woman successfully ended her pregnancy and hid the 12-week-old fetus in the trash.

The Offenses Against the Person Act called for a life sentence in prison. The judge reduced the sentence when he realized the extremity of this punishment. We demand that you follow his example. Abolish this archaic law and protect Northern Ireland’s women.

  1. The pills may have caused her harm? Because killing a baby isn’t harm? Sounds like hypocrisy to me.
