Fire Police Officer Filmed Executing Family Pet

IMG_5981

Target: Police commissioner Bill Bratton, NY

Goal: Terminate the officer who murdered a family pet.

Mounted security footage revealed an New York Police Department (NYPD) officer firing his gun upon a pit bull inside of an apartment building in the Bronx recently.

In early February, security camera footage captured the shocking sequence of events that led to the execution of a pit bull named Spike. The dog’s owner, Yvonne Rosado, recalls the haunting event with clarity. The officers were responding to a complaint when they knocked on Rosado’s door and Spike began to bark. Rosado called out to the officers, assuring them that her pet was friendly. Only ten seconds later would Spike lay dead in the hallway.

If this footage had not been revealed, the officer could have not faced any penalty. Pit pulls already have an unfounded negative connotation and it would not have been hard to write it off as self defense. However, the footage reveals that Spike squeezed his way past Rosado and was clearly excited to see the officer. Spike approached the officer with an enthusiastically wagging tail, which continued throughout the events and stopped with the dog’s last breaths.

Rosado reported that the officer immediately drew his gun and fired on her beloved dog. As shown in the video, the string of events happened so quickly that it is clear very little thought was put into this violent and unnecessary action. Rosado and her neighbors surrounded the dying dog. When she attempted to confront the offending officer, she was pinned brutally to the stairs by three officers.

It has been over two months since Spike’s death and NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton has only reported the ongoing internal investigation. Action needs to be taken to make sure that further events such as these do not occur. Sign this petition and urge the commissioner to follow through with this issue and terminate the trigger-happy officer.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Commissioner Bratton,

Due to an incident involving one of your officers in a Bronx apartment building in which said officer shot a nonthreatening animal exhibiting zero signs of aggression in the head at point blank range, we urge you to take steps in terminating the officer’s employment with the New York Police Department. Actions such as these are unacceptable for a public servant and upholder of the law.

To not terminate this officer would be sending a message that all pit bulls wear a target simply for existing, and that a violent attitude towards animals is tolerated. We urge you to not contribute to furthering the negative public perspective regarding pit bulls. We urge you to send a message that unwarranted animal violence will not be tolerated within your jurisdiction.

Sincerely,

Cops have to be held responsible for the things they do, this cop wasn’t in danger. We all have seen the video. He should be arrested for endangering the people in the building and animal cruelty. He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Anything less WOULD be a crime.

  2. Poor spike, its so tragic, this cop needs to be fired then executed for killing this beautiful innocent dog.

    • I agree. This filthy oinker pig cop needs to be given the death penalty, enabling a slow and painful death. Ameriacn cops have a disgraceful international reputation. There are very few good ones.

  3. Why are police so so ignorant/brutal and mean. They have no education in dealing with people or animals, so different from 10 years ago. I would never call the police, they scare me and no longer “Protect and Serve”. It’s a big problem all over. Wish my tax dollars didn’t fund their paychecks. 🙁

  4. “The only difference between a dog, cat, horse and dolphin and a cow, chicken, pig and turkey is perception. One is no more valuable than another. And yet in this culture, we hold the former animals in high esteem and the latter we brutalize for food. All animals are deserving of respect and freedom from violence. The way to respect others is veganism.”

  5. When are they going to stop putting people with personality disorders and other problems into uniforms and letting them loose with firearms? We have humane police, and also a fire service in the UK whose officers do their best to help animals in difficulty and distress. I am horrified by the number of alleged killings of innocent animals in the US by officers who seem unable to deal with situations that call for a little common sense and respect. What are they trying to prove? How tough they are behind a gun when faced with a stray cat or a friendly dog? If they are so inadequate they shouldn’t be doing the job.

  7. I know that cops have a really tough and dangerous job(WITH THAT SAID) it doesn’t let them go around acting like they live in the wild wild west shooting before they think!!

I WATCHED THE VIDEO AND THIS COP WAS WRONG . THIS SHOOTING SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AND THIS COP SHOULD AND MUST BE PUNISHED. HE IS A HOT HEAD WITH A GUN AND HE MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE THE NEXT VICTIM IS A HUMAN.

RIP POOR SPIKE AND I HOPE JUSTICE IS SERVED AND ALL COPS ARE TRAINED THAT YOU DON’T JUST SHOOT A BELOVED PET BECAUSE YOU CAN AND YOU HAVE A GUN BECAUSE IF YOU DO YOU WILL LOSE YOUR JOB UNLESS THERE IS UNDENIABLY PROOF YOU WERE IN EXTREME DANGER AND ONLY THEN. I HOPE THE OWNER CONTACTS ALDF.ORG/POLICE AND A HOT SHOT ATTORNEY TO MAKE SURE THAT COPS DON’T THINK THAT THEY CAN DO THIS AND JUST GET AWAY WITH IT. IT MUST STOP!!

This worthless cop deserves the death penalty. He is a Monster!

  9. Ross Bradley says:

I’m from New Zealand our police do not carry guns on them they do in alot of their cars but not on them and I’m not saying that we dont have our issues down here. But the a mount of times the rest of the world hears of police shooting in the USA is a appalling. Your cops just think they are in the old wild west and they dont care about any thing or one but themselves.

  10. Lilian Caughlin says:

The Police shooting of pets has become epidemic. There are too many uneducated morons being hired without common sense and unable to assess situations properly. Trigger happy as well as overblown egos. They seem to be the norm and the good ones are in the minority. Actually it is a reflection of todays society as they are hired from that pool.

  11. MOST OF THOUS USA POLICEMAN’S ARE DISGUSTING S PSYCHOPATHS!!!!THEY SHOULD BE IN PRISON NOT ON THE STREETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Gary Wayne says:

Pit bulls should be outlawed and exterminated. Cop did the right thing. Dog attacked. Dog got shot. …..NEXT!!!!

    • You sir are ignorant and lack common sense!

People like you are what is wrong with our country.

  13. The time is NOW that these trigger happy unstable deranged officers face consequences.

    That officer was clearly wrong!
He had no right or reason to even pull a gun.
Way too many trigger happy nut job cops running around these days, something needs to be done quickly.

Too many innocent animals, children, and unarmed people being hurt by these power high trigger happy officers.
