Stop Discriminatory Bill Targeting LGBT Population

Target: Phil Bryant, Governor of Mississippi

Goal: Object to a bill that would allow for discrimination against LGBT individuals in Mississippi.

A bill advocating against LGBT individuals is one vote away from becoming law. The Mississippi Senate has passed a controversial bill that would allow businesses, individuals, and organizations to discriminate against LGBT individuals. Put a stop to this dangerous discriminatory movement.

The dialogue of the bill makes numerous judgments against LGBT individuals. It promotes discrimination based on religious belief and moral conviction and states “marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman.” This directly opposes the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage. It also proposes “male (man) or female (woman) refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics at time of birth.” This supports discrimination against transgendered individuals in public bathrooms.

The bill is expected to pass in the House. From there, it is in the governor’s hands. Sign below and demand that the governor object this discriminatory bill.

Dear Governor Bryant,

The Protecting Freedom of Conscious from Government Discrimination Act will soon be in your hands. This bill would permit discrimination against LGBT individuals and directly oppose the Supreme Court’s ruling on gay marriage. We demand that you object this bill and protect the rights of LGBT individuals.

If this bill passes, than a business, organization, or individual may discriminate due to religious beliefs or moral conviction. Business will be able to turn away customers because of their sexual orientation and LGBT couples may again be denied marriage licenses.

We demand that you object this bill and stand for LGBT rights.
