Target: Jacob Zuma, President of South African National Parks
Goal: Save Sylvester the lion from unnecessary slaughter.
A three-year-old lion named Sylvester escaped South Africa’s Karoo National Park and now may be killed for it. After a period of heavy rain, Sylvester was able to crawl under the electric fence and wander 12 miles from the park. This is the second time Sylvester has escaped. The South African National Parks (SANParks) authority stated that when Sylvester is caught, he will be killed.
When SANParks made this announcement, people were outraged. Thanks to public outcry, SANParks has retracted its previous statement and said that killing Sylvester is just an option.
Killing Sylvester should not be an option at all. Sign this petition and demand Sylvester’s life is spared.
Dear Mr. Zuma,
Recently, Sylvester the lion escaped from Karoo National Park. In response to his escape, SANParks announced that when Sylvester is caught he will be put down. This is no way to handle a situation where a wild animal is acting as it should.
Thankfully, SANParks has revoked the previous statement and now states that putting Sylvester down is just one of the options. Please consider other options like building a better barrier or relocating him to another conservation area.
