Stop Exploiting FIFA’s Migrant Workers

Target: Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA

Goal: Stop the exploitation and abuse of FIFA workers in Qatar.

Migrant workers are exploited and abused under Qatar’s appalling labor practices. They are threatened and forced to live in squalid conditions all while they work tirelessly on the new FIFA stadium. Demand justice for migrant workers.

Migrant workers endure hellish conditions on a daily basis. The lack of labor laws makes them vulnerable to abuses of all kinds. They are forced to pay recruiters up to $4,300 to be hired at all. Then, they often go months without pay. They live in squalor and are threatened when they complain about the working conditions.

Currently, 4000 migrant workers are working on the FIFA stadium. That number will jump to a staggering 36,000 next year. Sign below and demand that FIFA insist on fair and safe labor practices for this massive project.

Dear President Infantino,

The building of the Khalifa International Stadium brings over 4,000 jobs to Qatar. Unfortunately, nonexistent labor laws force these workers to endure harsh conditions and abuse in order to keep their jobs. We demand that you end the mistreatment of the Khalifa workers at once.

It is not unusual for migrant workers to go months without pay. This is after they are forced to pay up to $4,300 to be employed at all. Complaints only get them threats from their employers. They return home to cramped accommodations after working long hours in dangerous conditions.

As a prominent figure throughout the world, you can make a real change. Don’t let FIFA be associated with the abuse of migrant workers. Take a stand and stop this horrific mistreatment.
