Target: Natives Against Trump and other protesters
Goal: Applaud these brave protesters for blocking the road leading to one of Trump’s hate-filled rallies.
A group of Native American and anti-hate protesters blocked the road leading to an Arizona rally for Donald Trump, 2016 presidential candidate. Trump’s rallies are known for inciting violence and drawing despicable crowds, like those who support white supremacy, Neo-Nazism and the KKK. What is propelling the increasingly hostile support for this candidate is his refusal to denounce these hate groups and his continual, convenient ignorance of them.
It is because of this increasingly hostile environment that Arizona residents decided to protest the rally by blocking the major road leading to the rally. These brave and peaceful protesters simply stood in the road with messages like, “Natives Against Trump”, “Trump = Hitler”, and “Good Night White Pride”. In a national climate of Islamophobia, anti-immigrant sentiments and inequality, it is people like these protesters that take to the streets to publicly and peacefully express their opinions and let everyone know that they aren’t okay with what is going on and they aren’t going to sit back and watch it happen, unchallenged.
Please sign this petition applauding the efforts of these groups to counter hate with love and tolerance by peacefully protesting a rally that incites hate and violence.
Dear Natives Against Trump and other protesters,
I am writing this letter to express my appreciation and admiration for the blockade that you peacefully maintained, in anticipation of a Donald Trump rally. As you all know, Trump rallies are known for inspiring hatred, violence and hostility in their supporters. All too often we have seen peaceful protesters be degraded, insulted and even assaulted while peacefully protesting at his events.
The fact that all of you were brave enough to block an entire road to express your disagreement and discontent with what goes on at Trump rallies is quite admirable. Equally satisfying is my belief that since you acted as peaceful protesters in such a publicized way, you changed the hearts and minds of some people in the stopped cars.
Being able to peacefully protest is a right that we are all guaranteed and should be able to exercise whenever and where ever we feel the need to. Acting against the Trump rally definitely qualifies as a worthwhile protest and I would like to applaud each and every one of you for your act of courage and extending a sentiment of solidarity to those around the country who are offended, insulted and disgusted by the hateful rhetoric of Donald Trump.
