Target: Pat McCrory, governor of North Carolina
Goal: Protest a bill that prohibits transgender individuals from using public bathrooms that match their gender identity.
A new bill has eradicated all anti-discrimination laws in North Carolina and put the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) population at risk. House Bill 2, the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, bans individuals from using bathrooms that correspond to their declared gender and prohibits laws against discrimination.
In a special session of the general assembly, Governor Pat McCrory signed the bill into place in a rush vote. Instead of expanding upon the already established laws, the general assembly put together a new bill that not only eradicates bathroom privileges, but also extinguishes other already established rights. House Bill 2 restricts cities from passing any and all nondiscrimination laws. Without these protections, the LGBT community suffers.

Dear Governor McCrory,
The LGBT community is suffering after the passing of House Bill 2. This massive loss of legal protection leaves them vulnerable to discrimination of all kinds.
The Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act not only restricts access to public restrooms, but it also encourages discrimination across the board. The bill prohibits all cities from passing broad nondiscrimination laws and puts the LGBT population at risk.
House Bill 2 is a slap in the face of all LGBT individuals. Your support of this bill only encourages further discriminatory practices throughout North Carolina. We demand that you reconsider your support of this bill and stand with the LGBT community.
