Target: Gretchen Jackson, President of Horse Racing Hall of Fame
Goal: Withdraw nomination of trainer Steve Asmussen for the Horse Racing Hall of Fame due to his cruel and illegal acts of training.
Steve Asmussen persistently gave medication to the horses to increase their performance and hide pain from injuries according to an undercover investigation from two years ago. The allegations were confirmed and Asmussen was fined $10,000, a lawsuit was filed due to violations against the Fair Labor Standards Act, and new regulations were introduced in the world of horse racing. On top of all this, he was no longer considered for the Horse Racing Hall of Fame in the years 2014 and 2015.
Now, Asmussen is back for a nomination. Sign this petition and demand the Horse Racing Hall of Fame take his name out of the running. He has cheated his way through the races while showing no compassion for the horses he supposedly loves.
Dear Ms. Jackson,
In the past couple years, Steve Asmussen’s immoral training techniques have come to light. Asmussen pumped copious amounts of medication into the horses so they could work through their pain and perform at their very best.
Thankfully, once the truth was revealed, it was not taken lightly. Asmussen had a lawsuit filed against him from the U.S. Department of Labor, was fined $10,000, and new regulations were introduced. Also, in 2014 and 2015, his consideration for the Horse Racing Hall of Fame was withdrawn.
Now, Asmussen is back up for the nomination. Asmusses has cheated his way through the racing world, all while showing no love and compassion to the horses that bring him the glory. Please consider withdrawing his nomination for the Horse Racing Hall of Fame. To be in a hall of fame, one should show integrity and forward thinking techniques. Assmussen has neither.
