Target: CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Doug Morris
Goal: End relationship with producer Dr. Luke after singer Kesha accused him of rape and abuse.
Sony Music is allegedly dropping producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald after the sexual assault allegations made by Kesha and other female recording artists. These accusations follow the high profile court battle between Gottwald, Sony, and Kesha after she claimed that the producer raped her after giving her “date rape” drugs. Although a New York Judge sided with Sony due to lack of evidence, Kesha has recieved a tremendous amount of support from other famous artists such as Adele, Lady Gaga, and Kelly Clarkson.
The website that posted the claim, The Wrap, said “Kesha has no case in regards to her contract but [Sony] can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive.” Sony Music Entertainment’s representatives have declined to comment on the reports; however, Gottwald’s attorney has issued a statement that denies the claims made by The Wrap. The attorney says that his representatives “are in regular contract with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up.”
Regardless of whether or not these rumors are true, Dr. Luke must be dropped from Sony’s label immediately. Sign the petition below to urge Sony to drop Dr. Luke.
Dear Mr. Morris,
Recent rumors have come up claiming that Sony is going to drop Dr. Luke from their label after the sexual assault allegations made against him. The rumors have since been denied by his attorney, but they still garnered the support of many artists. Lady Gaga immediately tweeted to Sony to “do the right thing” and cut Dr. Luke off. Many of Kesha’s supporters are joining in.
Although some say that Kesha has no case in regards to her contract, being called unsupportive by other big artists could be damaging to Sony’s business. Dr. Luke’s presence alone could be damaging. Kelly Clarkson has told reporters that she loathed working with him and only did so because her label blackmailed her. As the alleged inside source said to The Wrap, “The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building.”
Dr. Luke is not well liked and it’s garnering more and more hate from the media. I urge you to drop Dr. Luke from your label in order to keep yourself in good standings with the public and other artists.
