Target: Rajnath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs

Goal: Demand justice for Indian woman who was allegedly raped and set on fire.

A 16-year-old girl died after her boyfriend allegedly raped her and set her on fire. The incident happened in New Delhi, where violence against women has become a common occurrence. Demand justice for this innocent girl and take a stand against domestic violence.

According to police, a man barged into his girlfriend’s bedroom and raped her. Then, he reportedly set her on fire. The girl suffered severe burns and died soon after. While motives are still being investigated, the suspect is in custody and has been charged with rape. If convicted, he faces possible execution.

This is just one of many incidents of violence against Indian women. Rape reports peaked in 2014 at a staggering 36,735 cases, though only 28 percent of those cases lead to convictions. Stricter laws against rape have been drafted since the dramatic rise, but more must be done to protect women. Sign below to demand the harshest penalty for this horrific crime.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Singh,

A 16-year-old girl was raped and set on fire, allegedly by her boyfriend. She suffered severe burns and died shortly after the incident. We demand justice for this innocent girl.

This is just one of many incidents of violence against Indian women in recent years. With rape reports topping off at 36,735 in 2014, more must be done to protect women. By sentencing this perpetrator to death, you would set an example and deter future offenders.

We demand the harshest punishment for the person convicted of this horrific crime.

Sincerely,

  1. justice for this person now.

  2. Why are they investigating the motives for this violent act? Does it matter? That this boyfriend thinks it’s his right to do such a thing is all that we need to know. Burning at the stake is a fitting punishment for such as he.

  3. In India and in so many countries women are treated like chattel and have few options, especially, among the rural poor and illiterate. Male children are prized and women regularly abort their unborn female fetuses. Female infanticide still occurs in rural villages.

Young girls are sold into white slavery prostitution rings unwittingly by impoverished, uneducated parents who are conned by slick procurers into believing they are offering their daughters better life prospects.
The rampant corruption at all levels of government allows these abuses against women and girls to persist and proliferate.
Hope this teenage murderer receives swift punishment–a life sentence for his horrific crime!

Its still common in India for young, new brides to be set on fire and killed in that way…..

Recently, a small village, to punish a MALE member of a family, ordered that his young sisters, the youngest one only 15 I think, were to be raped by the men of the village….fortunately international outcry stopped this…but the fact that this can still be considered LEGAL in this time is amazing…….
