Stop Popular Christian Band From Performing at SeaWorld

SeaWorld Yathin S Krishnappa

Target: Bart Millard, Lead Singer of MercyMe

Goal: Stop popular band from performing at concert designed to increase SeaWorld attendance.

Thanks to Blackfish and increasing public awareness, SeaWorld’s attendance has been plummeting. In order to increase attendance, it has put together a Christian music festival called Praise Wave.

Many Christian singers, including Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, and Trace Adkins have cancelled their performances. MercyMe should follow suit and not support this company that forces wild animals to perform unnatural tricks in front of large crowds.

Sign this petition and demand that MercyMe cancel their performance at SeaWorld.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Millard,

Your band is planning a performance at SeaWorld’s Christian music festival, Praise Wave. SeaWorld is using Praise Wave as a chance to increase its traffic since attendance has been dropping in recent years.

The reason for this drop in attendance is because the public is becoming more aware of the atrocities that happen behind the curtains at SeaWorld. Wild animals are taken from their natural habitat and forced to perform tricks in front of large, jeering crowds. When the animals are not entertaining the masses, they are forced to live in tanks much too small for them.

Please consider cancelling your performance at SeaWorld. Many other singers including Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, and Trace Adkins have already cancelled their performances after learning about the horrors of SeaWorld. No animal should be confined for entertainment.

Sincerely,

a lot of people “quote” the bible.. telling us that God gave us animals for our use. they seem to confuse the words “use” and “abuse”.

    • In the Garden of Eden, before the Fall, Adam and Eve lived peaceably among the animals; they didn’t “use” them or eat them. Why do we quote the Bible to suit our purposes? Why don’t we aspire to live as Adam and Eve did before they were corrupted and expelled from Eden?

  2. I agree with the above comment by Sandra Mason, and somewhere
in our human hearts we should understand that God wishes for
us to take care of animals, we should understand that even
long before we read it in the Bible…. It should come naturally to us, to care for all living creatures and respect their feelings…. It’s also sad to me that a Christian band named “MercyMe” would not understand the lack of mercy at SeaWorld, where the worst abuse is not the unnatural tricks they are forced to perform, but the extremely un-natural separation of the mother whales and their babies…. That
is something we should know is wrong, especially if you
have seen the documentary “Blackfish” and have heard the
traumatized cries of the whales…. Please MercyMe, help
us show the true meaning of mercy….

  3. “We are all God’s creatures–that we pray to God for mercy and justice while we continue to eat the flesh of animals that are slaughtered on our account is not consistent.-Isaac Bashevis Singer

  4. This is an obvious ploy to attract revenues now that Sea World’s attendance is reduced due to the negative revelations of abuse of God’s creatures. Sea World is hoping to use Christian togetherness to pull in customers. It’s a cheap trick and an insult hiding behind religion to exploit marine life for the love of Mammon.
