Target: Daryl Bailey, Montgomery, Alabama District Attorney
Goal: Help push for the maximum penalty in case against police officer accused of murdering an unarmed black man.
A 58-year-old unarmed black man, Gregory Gunn, was reportedly walking home from a friend’s house when he was allegedly gunned down by a police officer who reportedly thought he looked suspicious and may have been holding what appeared to be a stick or weapon. Neighbors, who had to witness the victim dying in the yard of a home, believe the shooting was racially motivated.
The Alabama police officer, accused of firing the deadly shots, has been arrested and charged with murder. However, outlets report that fellow officers chipped in money and bailed him out of jail. Another official reportedly stated that the victim “brought this on himself.”
Alabama needs to display zero tolerance for racism and murder. Sign this petition to demand that the authorities seek the maximum penalty if the investigation proves the officer’s guilt.
