Target: Axel Dumas, CEO of Hermes
Goal: End company’s sale of ostrich skin bags from supplier that allegedly abuses the animals.
An international retailer makes bags made from the skin of ostriches and they obtain all their ostriches from one supplier. The company, Hermes, also has global influence in the world of fashion.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals investigated this supplier in South Africa and found many atrocities. Allegedly, workers forced ostriches into stun boxes where they would fall and have their throats slit. The next ostrich would watch helplessly seeing what was to come. Ostriches had their feathers ripped out while still conscious and workers would strike the ostriches.
No animal should have to live like this all for a handbag. Sign this petition and demand Hermes stop making bags from ostriches.
Dear Mr. Dumas,
Your brand, Hermes, has international influence in the world of fashion. One of your major products is ostrich skin bags.
An animal rights organization investigated your supplier and found many atrocities. Workers would strike the ostriches all over, including in the face, and the ostriches had their feathers ripped out while still conscious. Then, workers shoved the animals into stun boxes where they would fall and have their throats slit.
It is unnecessary to kill animals for a handbag. There are many cruelty-free materials available which can be used. Please consider the well-being of the ostriches. Should an animal have to die all for a handbag?
