Target: Lush CEO Mark Constantine

Goal: Applaud efforts to raise money to help Syrian refugees resettle in America and Canada.

Lush Cosmetics has recently released a limited edition soap, appropriately named the “Hand of Friendship,” as a means to raise money for several groups dedicated to helping Syrian refugees resettle in America and Canada. The groups included are Amnesty International Canada, which works to expand community efforts to welcome refugees and urges the government to expand its refugee resettlement program, as well as the International Rescue Committee, which provides refugees in the U.S. agricultural tools and resources so that they may grow their own food and make their own money. Applaud this cosmetics company for their efforts to help these refugees.

The company launched its campaign in response to the plans announced by the U.S. and Canada. Both countries are hoping to welcome refugees within the following year; Canada is expecting 25,000 refugees by the end of February 2016, and America is expecting 10,000 by the end of September 2016. Efforts to welcome refugees has been met with mixed responses, especially in America with half of the country’s governors refusing to allow Syrian refugees in their states. Lush hopes to find alternatives for the refugees, stating that they wish to look back on this crisis and know that they took the right action. Sign the petition below to thank the CEO of Lush Cosmetics for helping out the refugees.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Constantine,

At least 4.6 million Syrians have escaped the bloodshed in Syria, caused by both ISIS and the government, and still face many hardships upon arrival to the U.S. and Canada. Their hardships include, but are not limited to, cultural and language barriers, unemployment, finding adequate health care, and much more. Muslims in the U.S. even face racial discrimination that sometimes, unfortunately, results in violence.

Despite all of this, your stores are promoting anti-xenophobia. By placing Arabic greetings on your storefronts, you send a message of acceptance and welcome, things that can make resettlement a lot easier for the refugees. As they struggle to join new communities and enter their new homes, it’s important to know they’re welcome and accepted. Your company’s efforts are greatly appreciated. I would like to thank you for helping Syrian refugees find their way in their new homes.

Sincerely,
