Target: U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch
Goal: Punish men for defecating on sacred Native American site during their illegal occupation of an Oregon nature reserve.
A large trench full of a “significant amount of human feces” was found next to or top of grounds containing sensitive Native American artifacts after the Oregon militia occupiers were finally all cleared from the area. These militia members had been illegally occupying a state-supported nature reserve that contained these sites for several weeks as a “protest” against legal punishments for lighting fires on government land.
This stunt disrupted the state’s ability to properly protect the many animal species living within the reserve and cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars in extra law enforcement costs. However, it seems the occupiers weren’t content with just this. They also drove over and disrupted sacred Native American grounds, and apparently left behind a final, completely unnecessary insult to the Burns Paiute Native American Tribe.
Why these militia members felt the need to desecrate a site so important to the history and heritage of this tribe is a complete mystery. The Burns Paiute tribe had little, if anything, to do with this dispute, and leaving a pit full of feces right next to or on top of sacred artifact sites is about as disrespectful as you could possibly be. Sign our petition to demand that the federal government include charges addressing this gross act of desecrating among the overall charges leveled against the Oregon occupiers.
Dear Attorney General Lynch,
A trench full of human feces was recently discovered at a sacred site of the Burns Paiute Native American Tribe, apparently left there by the Oregon militia occupiers who spent weeks causing trouble at the area’s government-protected nature reserve. I’m glad to see that these individuals have finally been completely removed from the area and will be charged for the illegal occupation, but this discovery needs to be addressed.
The site of this trench is sacred for the Burns Paiute tribe. It contains sensitive artifacts and is very important to their history and heritage. The fact that these occupiers intentionally dug and left this poop-filled trench when the reserve building surely has toilets is a huge slap in the face to the local tribe.
I have no idea why these occupiers felt it necessary to desecrate a sacred Native American site, but they need to punished for it. We demand that you ensure that the charges filed against the individuals involved in the occupation include charges for intentionally violating Native American lands. Don’t leave the victims of this gross act out of the justice leveled against these domestic terrorists.
