Justice for 34 Monkeys that Died at Lab

Rhesus Macaque by J. M. Garg

Target: Captain Terri R. Clark, Chief Veterinary Officer at the United States Public Health Service

Goal: Shut down allegedly negligent animal testing lab to prevent the death of innocent animals.

Dozens of monkeys have died due to the allegedly negligent conditions at a drug testing facility. Over 34 questionable fatalities have been reported at the Everett, Washington-based Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories (SNBL) since 2013. Urge the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to suspend testing at this dangerous facility and save these innocent animals.

This is not the first time that SNBL has come under investigation for negligent practices. In October, a monkey allegedly died of asphyxiation after getting its head caught in a cage. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) ruled under-staffing as the cause of the death. In another incident, 25 monkeys reportedly died from dehydration during transport. Two more allegedly died of hyperthermia after being chased by workers at the breeding facility.

Sign below to urge the USDA to suspend testing at this facility and revoke all breeding programs until changes can be implemented.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Captain Clark,

More than 34 monkeys have reportedly died under questionable circumstances at a drug-testing facility in Everett, Washington. Most recently, a monkey died of asphyxiation after getting its head stuck in a cage. Now, their animal welfare practices have come under investigation.

We demand that you suspend all operation at the Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories until the full investigation is completed. This includes its offsite breeding program. Do not allow another animal to die due to this apparent negligence.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Stop labs like this from Killing and neglecting intelligent creatures for unnecessary medical experimentation. All animal experimentation has proved uneccesary and only adds time to approval of drugs as human trials must always be done anyway!! Please help to stop this stupid testing. And besides most testing is done to help cure diseases brought on by mans bad habits like heart disease etc cause by smoking and bad diets. Let humans figure out how to solve theirroblems without causing harm!!

  2. Just wanted to say, that is a baby orangutan in the picture> orangutans aren’t monkeys.

  3. Of course I’m signing this one, but want to add, aren’t ALL animal-testing labs truly “negligent” in one way or another?! C’mon, they’re not exactly “Heaven” for any animals imprisoned against their wills there! Plus, “animal testing” results have almost always been biased (done “in house,” not independently), deliberately skewed, &/or outright falsified in one way or another, besides. Def. of “negligent” = neglectful, remiss, careless, lax, irresponsible, inattentive, heedless, thoughtless, unmindful, forgetful; slack, sloppy, derelict. Since they ALL torture animals, and kill the vast majority of them off afterwards, AND animal testing is now KNOWN to have always been a farce in reality, doesn’t the definition inherently fit?…not to mention other descriptors, like “deceitful”!

  4. Shelli Schmidt says:

Ok, here’s the truth, 34 questionable fatalities, that’s not enough death..wait till the numbers hit a 100. They’re nothing but stupid non feeling animals put on earth for us to torture, experiment on & kill…that’s how these monkeys are seen as.

    • Sarcasm, I would hope. Animals are no less feeling of fear and pain than we are. It is in our own ignorance that we assume otherwise.

  5. Kathy Stelter says:

    Please stop killing innocent animals.

  6. Barbara Illyes says:

    Please stop animal testing!

  7. I SUPPOSE THESE PEOPLE THINK THAT THESE POOR LITTLE THINGS ARE ONLY MONKEYS, THEY MIGHT EVEN BE BETTER OF DEAD, DEPENDING HOW THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED BEFORE HAND, PROBABLE SOME SORT OF TORTURE. SICKENING.

  8. Frances Calcraft says:

Any facility that cannot take proper care of animals should not be housing them.

  9. If you cant look after these animals then you shouldnt be any where near them. These creatures are not on earth to be tortured by humans. Shut this place down

  10. There is no excuse for this. Punish these people.
