Target: Jeffrey L. Ashton, Florida State Attorney Orange & Osceola Counties
Goal: Prevent daycare director accused of beating a child in her care from working with children in the future, if convicted.
The director of a Florida day care center has reportedly been arrested and charged with child abuse. The arrest comes as a result of a co-worker reporting Director Kimberly Reid to authorities. The co-worker presented video of Reid allegedly repeatedly hitting a four-year-old child with stuffed animals as well as grabbing him by his arms and legs and dropping him several feet. Reid reportedly told authorities that the child liked to play rough and that she had done nothing wrong.
Following Reid’s arrest, the owner immediately closed Children’s Palace Day Care. According to police, Reid was already on probation for welfare fraud and grand theft. It’s unclear how Reid was able to obtain the director position as a convicted felon.
Demand that, if convicted, Kimberly Reid is prohibited from working with children in the future.
Dear Attorney Ashton,
The director of Children’s Palace Day Care has reportedly been arrested and charged with child abuse as a result of a video taken by a co-worker. In the video, Kimberly Reid appears to be beating a child repeatedly with stuffed animals and grabbing his arms and legs and dropping him several feet. Although Ms. Reid allegedly claimed the child likes to play rough, authorities clearly felt otherwise.
In the wake of her arrest, authorities have also learned that Ms. Reid was reportedly on probation for welfare fraud and grand theft. In some states, this would have made her ineligible for a position working with children.
We demand that, if convicted, Kimberly Reid is prohibited from employment that would allow her to have contact with children.
