Success: Koch Brother Leaves Natural History Museum Board

Target: The Natural History Museum Board Member James Powell

Goal: Praise activists for successfully pressuring one of the Koch brothers to leave the board of the American Museum of Natural History.

Oil baron David Koch has left the board of directors of the American Museum of Natural History, which is great news considering the fact that the Koch brothers are notorious climate change deniers, and any natural history museum would be involved in the subject. Thanks to pressure and petitions like those on ForceChange, we don’t have to worry about him influencing this museum into withholding or skewing information that supports the reality of climate change.

The Koch brothers have openly used their many billions of dollars to fund groups dedicated to denying climate change and lobbying in favor of letting oil and coal corporations do whatever they want without regard for the health of the planet. This is incredibly dangerous as we’re seeing more and more deadly effects of global warming every year in the form of massive storms, devastating floods, and extreme drought.

No matter what David Koch days, it seems unlikely that the intense pressure from multiple activist groups and communities did not play a part in his departure from this board. This is an important victory which shows that even billionaires like the Koch brothers aren’t immune from the influence of the common people when we come together. Sign to thank climate activists for removing this dangerous man from the museum board.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Powell,

I’m writing to thank you for your efforts to pressure David Kock of the infamous Koch brothers to resign from the board of the American Museum of Natural History. The fact that he recently left this board is a significant victory that proves seemingly untouchable oil barons like the Kochs can be influenced by the common people when we stand together as one.

Without this man on the museum’s board of directors, we no longer have to fear that he will manipulate this essential educational institution to hide or skew information that supports the reality of climate change. We need to be constantly vigilant in our efforts to fight climate change deniers who hinder efforts to put an end to the biggest contributors to this problem–including the oil industry.

This may be the most important fight of our age. Climate change threatens the entire human species and all life on Earth as we know it. Thank you for standing up for the truth and for all those who have been and will be impacted by the devastation of global warming.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

  1. Thank goodness he’s GONE!! Or should I be more accurate and thank the people!

  2. David Koch has donated millions of dollars to natural history museums. I may not agree with his politics or opinions on climate change, but I welcome his financial support. He donates funds without having any control over how science topics are presented to the public. I think this push to have him removed from the American Natural History Museum is misguided.
