Target: Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette
Goal: Remove a former doner to Governor Snyder as the lead of the investigation into the Flint, Michigan water poisoning crisis.
A man who donated to Governor Rick Snyder will be the one to decide if Snyder broke any laws related to the Flint water crisis if nothing is done to demand change. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, who originally refused to even look into allegations of wrongdoing around the cover ups and failings that led to Flint, Michigan’s water being poisoned with lead for years, has now appointed former prosecutor Todd Flood as part of a special counsel that will investigate this catastrophe.
Unfortunately, it’s come to light that Mr. Flood has donated to both Snyder’s and Schuette’s political campaigns multiple times. Considering this undeniable conflict of interest, it seems extremely unlikely that Flood will find Snyder guilty of any wrongdoing.
The people of Flint have been failed at every turn. They’ve been poisoned, lied to, ignored, insulted, forced to may money for the poisoned water, and threatened with losing their kids if they don’t. At the very least, now that the evidence has mounted in favor of these people, they deserve an impartial and effective investigative counsel that will bring them justice.
Sign our petition to demand that Flood be removed from this counsel and replaced with someone who has not spent money to get Snyder elected governor. This kind of clear political corruption cannot be allowed to stand.
Dear Attorney General Schuette,
It’s come to my attention that you recently appointed one Todd Flood to a special counsel that will be investigating the current water crisis in Flint to determine if anyone involved broke any state laws. It’s also been revealed that Mr. Flood has donated to both Governor Rick Snyder’s political campaigns and your political campaigns twice.
This is a clear conflict of interest that does not do the people of Flint justice. If Flood has a vested interest in Snyder being governor of Michigan, then it’s no stretch to assume he would be motivated to find the governor not guilty of any wrongdoing, despite the fact that Snyder has made clear attempts to cover up the details of how deep the negligence that led to this water crisis goes.
Maybe you thought no one would notice, but the entire nation has its eyes on Flint, Michigan and on you. People have died and children have suffered irreversible brain damage because of the massive failures that led to this situation, and someone needs to be held responsible. We demand that you remove Flood from the special counsel and replace him with an impartial individual who has not given you or Snyder money.
