Punish No-Kill Shelter for Alleged Animal Cruelty

Target: Raeford, North Carolina District Attorney, Kristy Newton

Goal: Prosecute operators of animal shelter to the maximum extent for allegedly housing 600 animals who were found malnourished, neglected, and suffering from wounds.

The operators of a “no-kill” animal shelter were arrested on four counts of animal cruelty when at least 600 of their animals were reportedly found in awful condition. An official said the animals were suffering from open wounds, skin conditions, and they appeared malnourished. A total of 250 cats were seized from the property as well as 300 dogs, 40 horses, and multiple farm animals. The facility boasts being a “no-kill” animal shelter, but they allow their animals to suffer in conditions that even the sheriff referred to in a statement as “awful” and “very sad.”

Malnourishment and open skin wounds hint at a serious neglect and cruelty problem within this so-called rescue facility. It appears these innocent animals were made to suffer needlessly and even starve at the hands of humans who couldn’t be bothered. Demand justice for them by urging the district attorney to help seek maximum penalties for facility operators, if guilty.

Dear Ms. Newton,

At least 600 animals were reportedly seized from a “no-kill” animal shelter. Animal control officers said the animals appeared malnourished and were suffering from open wounds and skin conditions.

The operators of this so-called “no-kill”  facility apparently would rather allow their animals to suffer and starve unnecessarily, which is no better than euthanasia. We urge you to be the voice these poor, innocent animals need by helping seek the maximum penalty allowable by law for the operators of this facility, if they’re found guilty.
