Goal: Praise the decision to provide Michigan with the necessary funds to clean up Flint’s water
The Obama administration has finally stepped in to contribute financial aid for the repair of the current inadequate water system in the city of Flint, Michigan. With this new funding, the local governments will have the capability to implement permanent quality changes in water sourcing and distribution. The mere gesture of federal aid will provide the numerous families of Flint hope to recover from the long-standing disaster.
Almost two years ago, the Michigan state government made the consequential decision to refurbish their water system by switching sources from Lake Huron to the Flint River. This supply transfer resulted in widespread contamination and sparked national and local outrage, especially since it was allowed to continue for so long.
Federal assistance in the form of $80 million was the conclusion of a gathering of mayors at the White House recently. It came after the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s rejection to provide aid to Michigan on the basis that the water crisis was not the result of a fire, natural catastrophe, explosion or flood.
Thanks in part to petitions like Provide Clean Water to City with Contaminated Drinking Water, federal assistance is finally being provided to Flint despite inactivity on the state level. By signing the below petition you will be thanking the Obama administration for taking action to provide Michigan with the funding needed to reconstruct Flint’s poorly-created water system.

Dear President Obama,
I am writing this letter to thank you for taking decisive action in assisting Michigan to repair Flint’s disastrous water supply system, by granting them a sufficient money to do so. Up until now, innumerable families have suffered greatly without hope, due to water contamination at the hands of their state representation.
Water is the most essential resource for survival and, unfortunately, families, kids, the elderly and other vulnerable members of Flint’s population have been exposed to this detrimental and possibly irreversible water contamination for far too long.
I thank you for stepping up to provide financial aid to the victims of this enduring dilemma and allowing them to hold on to hope for positive change. Hopefully this move will also prevent future considerations of poorly-constructed and impulsive state government decisions to save money that affect so many people.
