Target: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator, William Craig Fugate
Goal: Ensure clean water for town dealing with lead contamination in their drinking water.
For months, the residents of Flint, Michigan have only had access to contaminated tap water. The crisis began when Flint decided to change the water source to save money. The saltiness of the water from the new source corroded the pipes, which lead to toxic lead in the water.
More than 2,000 blood tests were administered, and 43 children were found with elevated lead levels. This is a serious problem but, unfortunately, it has not been treated as such. Bottled water was not handed out until five days after an emergency was declared.
It is time the citizens of Flint are provided with the clean water that is necessary for everyday life. Sign this petition and demand that the Federal Emergency Management Agency act now to help the people of Flint.
