Charge Mother in Infant’s Death

Heroin_needle_in_the_street

Target: Provo Chief of Police John King

Goal: Provide justice for infant killed by lethal dose of Heroin.

One-year-old Penny Cormani was put down for a nap and later found unresponsive by her mother earlier this week in Provo, Utah. Autopsy results show Penny had a lethal amount of Heroin in her system as well as traces of Codeine. Penny’s mother, Cassandra Richards, has a well-documented drug history and a search of the home where they were staying produced various drug paraphernalia and evidence of recent use.

Penny’s parents have denied any drug use despite the evidence and currently no arrests have been made. Though the owners of the home Penny and her parents were staying at also have long drug use histories, they were allegedly not home at the time of Penny’s death. Cassandra Richards was the last person to see her daughter alive and therefore should be the primary suspect in this investigation.

Drug addiction is a serious and debilitating condition, which requires empathy and patience to help battle. In many cases the death of a child by the actions of a parent is punishment enough, but these are cases where there was no intent to harm. Penny was found not with just traces of Heroin in her system, but a lethal amount, which suggests there was intent to harm.

Demand justice for Penny Cormani. Tell Provo Chief of Police John King to arrest Cassandra Richards for the death of her daughter and launch a full investigation into the circumstances of her death.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief King,

One-year-old Penny Cormani did not deserve to die. She certainly didn’t deserve to die by being fed a lethal dose of Heroin. Cassandra Richards has a well-documented drug history and evidence at the scene confirms recent use. It is unacceptable that an arrest has not been made in this case.

The death of a child is a devastating tragedy. When that death is surrounding by questionable circumstances and evidence pointing to intent to harm, justice should be served efficiently. Cassandra Richards was the last person to see her daughter alive and therefore should be arrested for the death of baby Penny. No child should suffer at the hands of its parents. It’s a parent’s responsibility to ensure the health and well-being of their child. Please arrest Cassandra Richards for the death of her daughter.

Sincerely,
