Target: Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Jeh Johnson
Goal: Stop raiding Hispanic homes and tearing these families apart.
The Department of Homeland Security has raided the homes of 121 Hispanic families in Georgia, Texas and North Carolina. Immigration laws are important, but this country was not built on tearing families apart.
The Department of Homeland Security does not consider the struggle and stress deportation takes on not just the person deported but entire families. Jeh Johnson, the Department’s Security Secretary, had this to say after being questioned about the 121 raids, “As I have said repeatedly, our borders are not open to illegal migration. If you come here illegally, we will send you back consistent with our laws and values.”
The raids are the last result for undocumented immigrants who have no legal options left. Many families are left morally and financially destroyed after the removal of their main income earners. What happens when these families have to struggle without their beloved fathers or mothers? The result of many of these families is crime, drug trafficking and prostitution. Hispanic groups have organized to raise awareness for the inhumane separation of undocumented families in the U.S.
The answer to illegal immigration begins at our borders, not at the homes of the families that are already here and trying to make a better future for their children. I ask you to put yourself in the position of the families that have suffered financially and emotionally from these raids. Sign the petition below to remind Secretary Jeh Johnson that this country will not stand for the separation of families.
Dear Security Secretary Johnson,
The raids of Hispanic homes that have taken place are inhumane. The removal of the main financial household earners from these homes is unjust because it only sets these families to be more prone to illegal activity. Many Hispanic families are left morally and financially destroyed after the removal of their main income earners.
Removing undocumented Hispanics will not resolve the upsets and falls of the American family household. I ask you to not forget that the illegal immigration issue begins at our borders and not inside the homes of those trying to provide a better future for their children. Please stop ruining the lives of families via these raids and focus on border immigration control. I urge you to please stop tearing these families apart.
