Support Kesha for Battling Alleged Sexual Abuse by Her Producer

Target: Kesha

Goal: Show support for her continued fight against Sony.

Pop singer Kesha has been embroiled in a legal battle against her producer, Dr. Luke, who has allegedly committed sexual and physical assault against her many times over the past few years. He also reportedly made disparaging comments about her appearance that caused her eating disorder to worsen. Due to her contract, she can only record new music with Dr. Luke producing. She sued to get out of her contract, but Sony reinforced it, and she has since refused to record any new material. Because of this, it has been three years since she has released an album. She has reportedly shown an itching to get back to recording over the last year.

Recently, over the Christmas holidays, Kesha went against contract restrictions and played a rare, unannounced show in Nashville. She skirted the restrictions by performing as part of a new band, Yeast Infection, and played more rock-infused versions of a few of her songs. The show has not been very publicized, but many Kesha fans have been supportive of her and her uphill battle. The hashtag #PrayForKesha erupted after the news of her legal case came out.

Kesha is only one of many female musicians who have been burdened with such hate, although her story is particularly awful. Worse, a lack of actual proof and the content of her music has led many people to discredit her claims without looking into them at all. We should show support for Kesha and her fight against an alleged sexual predator, and sexism in the music industry.

Dear Kesha,

Despite the efforts of Sony and others in the music industry, you have managed to make your story heard and I want to show support for your struggle. Your recent show in Nashville has proven that you are not stepping away from the fight against sexism in the industry. It was a bold and risky move and I applaud your efforts.

Sexism and sexual assault among insiders in the music industry is rampant and what Dr. Luke has been accused of is particularly heinous. You are standing up against an industry-wide issue of predatory, discriminatory and illegal actions against women.

I want to let you know that you have supporters and believers, we are here in support of your fight against Sony. You are leading a brave fight and if enough people see your struggle and hear your story, you might be able to make a serious difference about it.

Probably trying to get more attention through manipulation and “sad” stories, boohoohoo eating disorder, I’ve been suffering from anorexia nervosa in combination with some heavy depressions in my past years, from what I can remember I wasn’t nagging and bragging like some kind of helpless child.
Bloody man up, spoiled brat! For life isn’t all that happy nor forgiving.
Don’t expect from everyone to just wipe your ass all day!

    • So you think she should just deal with sexual and physical abuse as if it’s nothing serious? This is her first time speaking up about this issue and she’s saying she wants out from all of the abuse, I wouldn’t call that nagging nor bragging, but I would call it speaking up and defending herself for the first time in 3 years. Have some sympathy man, not everyone is going through the same things as other people but that doesnt make them less important.

    • You sound like you need help too.
Why be a bitch about others sexual harassment
What caused you to have an eating disorder and what are you doing about it?
