End Domestic Terrorism in Oregon

Patches on the sleeve of a militiaman is seen at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon, January 4, 2016. The leaders of a group of self-styled militiamen who took over a U.S. wildlife refuge headquarters over the weekend said on Monday they had acted to protest the federal government's role in governing wild lands. Ammon Bundy, a leader of the group, told reporters outside the occupied facility on Monday that his group had named itself "Citizens for Constitutional Freedom" and was trying to restore individual rights. Target: President Barack Obama

Goal: Take action against the domestic terrorists who have taken over a government building in Oregon.

Recently, a militia took over a government building in Oregon. This group is full of heavily armed men who are urging other militias to come join their cause and are claiming that, although they are being peaceful now, they will “defend” themselves should they feel the need to.

This, by any definition, is domestic terrorism. They are using the threat of violence to get what they want and are seemingly getting away with this. There are no signs of the National Guard attempting to expel these men from the building.

This militia has said that they occupied the federal building to support local ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son Steven Hammond, who were arrested back in 2012 for arson. The Hammond family has since distanced themselves from the militia, their lawyer stating that the family wants no part of it.

These men are using the threat of violence to invoke fear in the citizens around the federal building and even the government itself, as many politicians have said that they want to avoid another Waco siege. Waiting for the militia to leave on their own is not an option. They can easily hurt or even kill innocent citizens should they see that their requests aren’t being met. Sign the petition below to ask the Obama administration to take action against this act of terrorism.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Obama,

As you may well know, a militia has taken over a federal building in Oregon. These men are heavily armed and are demanding the freedom of two anti-government criminals, both of whom are charged with arson, and have stated that they are willing to defend themselves should they need to.

This, by any definition, is an act of domestic terrorism. Since this is an act of terrorism, it’s thought that there would be police officers raiding the building or even the National Guard opposing these terrorists. However, no such thing has occurred.

It’s understood that the government hopes to avoid another Waco siege, but the circumstances are different this time around. There are no hostages in this building, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t take any in the coming days. They are using terror to get what they want, and they can very easily attack an innocent passerby.

You have recently stated in the news that you will be taking measures to end gun violence in America. Arresting this militia would be the opportune moment to do so. I ask that you please take action and end this act of terrorism quickly before innocent lives are taken.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
