Target: Prosecutor General of Puerto Rico Margarita Mercado Echegaray
Goal: If found guilty, ensure maximum penalty for the suspect accused of holding three police officers hostage and killing them.
A Puerto Rico police officer reportedly showed up at the police headquarters in Ponce and held three officers hostage in the lieutenant’s office before shooting them all. The police spokeswoman stated that they were just about to begin negotiating with the officer when the victims were killed. In a press release, police said the suspect is a police officer himself and had previously been stripped of his weapon. Unfortunately, the officer’s weapon was returned to him and now three innocent people are dead. The governor told reporters the suspect is hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the shooting, but he’s apparently still alive.
This senseless violence is tragic and it seems clear the officer had violent tendencies. This man should’ve been stripped of his weapon and badge indefinitely, and before he had a chance to kill. Sign the petition to demand justice for these three lives by asking the prosecutor general to ensure he receives the maximum penalty if found guilty.
Dear Ms. Echegaray,
Three police officers were reportedly held hostage in a police headquarters building before being shot and killed by a fellow officer. The suspect was previously stripped of his weapon, but it was later returned to him, according to reports. It seems clear that this officer has violent tendencies and should’ve never been given his weapon back.
A person who’s capable of cold-blooded murder is unsuitable and undeserving of being a police officer. Three innocent people are dead and they deserve justice. We urge you to ensure that the suspect is sentenced to the maximum extent if found guilty.
