Target: Rotterdam Deputy Mayor Pex Langenberg
Goal: Charge and punish police officers, if found guilty, for allegedly restraining and beating American journalist.
An American journalist was reportedly arrested while filming footage at an anti-Islam movement demonstration rally known as Pegida. He alleges that, during what he calls an unlawful arrest, he was beaten by three police officers. It was claimed that he was arrested for failing to show his press card, but he says the card was hanging around his neck, visible the entire time.
The journalist said that the police handcuffed him so tightly that it sprained his wrist and was denied any medical treatment because the doctor was supposedly too busy, but the officers refused to even call the emergency service number for him. Among the many forms of mistreatment he received, the alleged victim also said that he wasn’t allowed to call his lawyer until he insisted.
Then, when he refused to leave the station until the statement he’d made to officers was changed and corrected, they allegedly assaulted him — one cop keeping him restrained in a choke hold while another beat him repeatedly, even when he cried out that he couldn’t breathe. A third officer allegedly pulled his hair and removed his glasses, and his head was beaten against the ground.
This deplorable violence must not be tolerated. These police officers are abusing their position of power and behaving like sadists who beat anyone they can restrain. Demand that they be charged with excessive force and assault and punished to the fullest extent if guilty.
Dear Deputy Mayor Langenberg,
An American journalist says he was wrongfully arrested then completely mistreated and physically assaulted by three police officers when he was filming footage at the Pegida rally. The alleged victim claims that the officers refused to make the necessary corrections to his statement, so one restrained him while two others punched him and beat his head against the ground.
The violence this man allegedly endured is horrific. It’s disgusting that men who took an oath to serve and protect could restrain another human and beat him. We demand that these alleged sadists be charged and punished to the maximum extent of the law if found guilty.
