Target: New Mexico, 12th Judicial District Attorney Diana Martwick
Goal: Help ensure charges are brought against animal rescue center where police reportedly found dead animals in crates.
Police reportedly found over ten dogs and a cat dead in crates, as well 22 live animals at a so-called animal rescue center claiming to shelter animals before they could be euthanized. The dead animals were left in crates and the others seem to have been neglected and left to suffer the same horrific fates as the other dead animals.
Deputies say they have people of interest, but haven’t made any arrests. The animals were transferred to other shelters and veterinarians. After they collect more evidence from the veterinarian, they’ll contact the district attorney to see if there should be any charges pressed. It seems clear that these animals were at the very least subjected to some form of abuse and neglect, if not outright animal cruelty. There’s no reason for this many dead animals to have been left in crates. It’s clear the shelter workers had no regard for other life. They should’ve handed the animals over so that they could’ve at least been fed and kept alive.
Unfortunately, judging by the police statements — that they will contact the district attorney to see if any charges should be pressed — it sounds like it’s a possibility that whoever is responsible for may not even face charges. These innocent animals deserve justice. Demand that the district attorney make the right decision and choose to press charges and help ensure the people responsible for these lives are given the most severe penalties.
Dear Diana Martwick,
A sickening number of dead animals were reportedly found in crates and 22 live ones at an animal rescue center. Judging by the number of dead bodies left in crates and live animals left to suffer a slow, agonizing death, it seems the people responsible committed horrific acts of animal neglect and cruelty.
Deputies reportedly said they’ll contact the district attorney to see if they should press charges. This isn’t good enough. Please show the world that animal lives matter and that neglect and abuse will not be tolerated by aiming to press as many charges as possible against the center.
