Stop Sexual Abuse Against Female Police

Target: Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton

Goal: Start penalizing Victoria police who are found guilty of sexually abusing or harassing female co-workers.

A report released today by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission showed that women in the Victoria, Australia Police force are severely mistreated. The reports findings included an alarming number of sexual harassment accounts. Among the types of harassment allegedly experienced by women in the Victoria Police included sexism, discrimination, harassment, and more. One woman who says she was allegedly repeatedly harassed for being in a same-sex relationship recalled being the subject of violent threats from her co-workers, including a fellow female, but the complaint was reportedly dismissed. Another case involved a supervisor who was accused of ostracizing those below his position so they would engage in his sexual demands.

This alleged extreme level of mistreatment of women in the Victoria Police is so rampant that even the senior constable from a metropolitan police station was accused of multiple counts of sexual harassment, but was allowed to retire with pay and no punishment even though he’d been accused of similar crimes at a previous job.

It’s unacceptable that these so-called police are allegedly treating their fellow female police with such abuse, but it’s no surprise that the issues are so rampant since it seems the abusers aren’t actually punished for their crimes. Police officers should not be above the law, and when they are committing crimes like sexual abuse against a co-worker, they should be punished just as anyone else would be. Demand they implement severe penalties and punish anyone found guilty of these sick crimes against their fellow co-workers.

Dear Mr. Ashton,

Sexual abuse, sexism, and other forms of extreme harassment are allegedly rampant within the Victoria Police, with females often being the alleged victims of their sick co-workers’ abuse. A report uncovered a disgusting number of cases where the women have reportedly been abused in some way.

It’s deplorable that this reported criminal behavior is allowed and that from what it seems, never properly punished. We demand you start implementing real, severe penalties for every officer found guilty of sexually harassment or abuse.
