Demand Trump Apologize for Disrespectful Paris Attacks Comment

Target: Donald Trump

Goal: Ask Donald Trump to apologize for using Paris attacks to further his own political pro-gun agenda.

The day following the deadly Paris attacks, Donald Trump used the horrific event to further his own pro-gun claims. The recent deadly terrorist attacks left over 130 people dead and many more injured. During a political rally in Texas, Trump said that the attacks would have been less deadly if people had possessed guns. With France and the world still reeling from the bloodshed, it is unacceptable and immoral that presidential candidate Donald Trump used the heartbreaking events to further his own pro-gun stance and political agenda.

While Trump did call for a minute of silence in honor of the victims, his comments promoting gun ownership erased that gesture and proved hugely disrespectful to the people who lost their lives in the attacks as well as their families. In implying that owning guns could have saved the victims’ lives, Trump’s comments are not only tactless and insensitive in the face of this human tragedy, but also completely groundless. This claim is even more ridiculous considering the setting of the attacks: a football stadium, restaurants and a concert hall–places to which bringing a gun would be ludicrous and dangerous.

Trump had made similar statements after the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January of this year, blaming France’s “tough gun control laws” for the tragedy. In doing so, Trump is spreading harmful and false beliefs. Considering that the U.S. has the highest number of privately owned guns in the world as well as the highest rate of gun violence by far, widespread gun ownership is certainly not the solution for national security.

Sign this petition demanding that Donald Trump apologize for his disrespectful, self-motivated and fallacious comments.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Trump,

It is shameful that you utilized the harrowing Paris tragedy to further your own political pro-gun agenda. While you did call for a minute of silence in honor of the victims during the presidential rally in Beaumont, Texas, your comments promoting gun ownership swiftly erased that laudable gesture. With France and the world still reeling from the bloodshed, it was unacceptable and immoral to use the shocking and heartbreaking events to fallaciously further your own pro-gun stance.

In implying that owning guns could have saved the victims’ lives, your comments are not only hugely disrespectful but also completely groundless. Considering that the U.S. has the highest number of privately owned guns in the world as well as the highest rate of gun violence by far, widespread gun ownership is clearly not the solution to keeping citizens safe.

I urge you to stop spreading harmful and false beliefs and apologize for these disrespectful comments made in the wake of a terrible tragedy.

Sincerely,

  1. Oh please. What about what John Kerry said! he suggested that Islamist militants had a “rationale” for the attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris in January that killed 12 people. Kerry sought to contrast the two incidents, saying the Charlie Hebdo killings appeared to have a motivation, while those last week were indiscriminate.

YOU LIBERALS ONLY SEE WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE BUT ALWAYS MISS THE TRUTH! AT LEAST TRUMP CALLS IT FOR WHAT IS IS.

  2. Oh please. Dumbest petition ever! This is what is wrong with the country. We are offended over everyone and everything that we don’t agree with. GET OVER IT. Not everyone is going to agree with your point. It’s what makes us all different. If you don’t like what Trump said then don’t vote for him!!!
I would suggest you put your time and effort into something more worth while like helping the homeless or saving the animals. Stop complaining and whining because someone said something that you don’t like.

Oh, I hate that person! He’s one of these worse presidential candidates. Republicans are also greedy and foolish.

  4. Trump has a personality disorder so if you want someone like that for your president, good luck!
