Target: Jan Creamer, President and Co-Founder of Animal Defenders International
Goal: Applaud group for saving mountain lion who has spent 20 years in the entertainment industry.
A mountain lion that goes by the name of Mufasa has spent his last 20 years being carted around from town to town to perform for people. He allegedly lived and was chained up in the back of his owner’s truck. Thankfully, this all came to an end due to the hard work of the animal rescue group Animal Defenders International (ADI).
ADI believes that Mufasa was sold into the exotic pet trade as just a cub. President Jan Creamer described the scene of Mufasa’s rescue as “the most sad, wretched thing that you’ve ever seen…it was like he wasn’t even alive.” Mufasa’s owner did not make the rescue easy. He allegedly convinced people to start a riot as police and rescuers tried to save Mufasa. Thankfully, the riots did not stop officials and Mufasa was rescued. He was then transported to ADI’s rescue center in Lima, Peru.
In 2011, Peru banned the use of animals in circuses and since then the ADI launced Operation Spirit of Freedom. The aim of Operation Spirit of Freedom was to rescue performing animals in Peru. They have saved almost 80 animals trapped in the entertainment industry. The group is working really hard to give all animals a chance at freedom.
Sign this petition and thank the ADI for all their hard work in saving circus animals, especially Mufasa, who now knows what real happiness is like.
Dear Ms. Jan Creamer,
I was delighted to hear that after years of being chained to the back of a truck, Mufasa the mountain lion now lives a happy life in your rescue center. It breaks my heart to hear about situations like Mufasa’s because no animal should be subjected to a life spent chained up and performing for humans.
What gives me hope is organizations like yours that go above and beyond to help these animals. I was ecstatic to hear that you have saved nearly 80 animals in Peru following the ban on circus animals. Not only that, but now you are planning on saving animals in Mexico and Colombia following their bans on circus animals. I look forward to hearing about your future success stories from Mexico and Colombia.
Thank you again for all of your hard work. It does not go unnoticed.
