Justice for Victims of Nigeria Bombing

Target: Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari

Goal: Identify the individual or group responsible for bombing Nigeria and bring them to justice.

At least 31 people have been killed and another 72 injured by a bomb blast that occurred in the northeastern city of Yola, according to the Red Cross. Another official from the National Emergency Management Agency estimated a higher casualty toll of 32 dead and 80 injured. The explosion erupted through the crowded Tipper Garage in the Jambutu area of the city at almost eight that night, shortly after evening prayers. The area houses an open-air restaurant, a mosque, and a livestock market, and the explosion occurred as traders were leaving the mosque and others were dining at the restaurant.

President Muhammadu Buhari had just recently visited the city to present medals to soldiers who have been fighting the Boko Haram, an Islamic militant group working out of Nigeria, as well as provide camps for those displaced by the conflict, but no one has taken responsibility for the bombing as of yet. Insist that the Nigerian President and the rest of the country’s authorities do everything in their power to identify the perpetrator behind yet another attack on their cities and bring him or her to justice before he or she may strike again.

Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,

As I’m sure you are aware, another devastating attack took place recently in the city of Yola, with estimated casualties as high as 32 dead and 80 more injured. The bombing took place late evening in Tipper Garage within the Jambutu area, just after evening prayers when traders were exiting the mosques and diner were enjoying a meal at the open-air restaurant. It is good that your recent visit to Yola for the awarding of soldiers and housing provision did not occur soon enough for you to be at risk from the explosion.

While Nigeria is currently in the midst of a brutal conflict with the Boko Haram extremist group, in which many people have lost homes and lives, neither they nor anyone else have yet to claim responsibility for the bombing. It’s incredibly important that we identify who is responsible for the deliberately planted explosion that occurred in Tipper Garage in order to cease the threat of the Boko Haram or, even more startling, address a completely new threat to peace in Nigeria. Please do everything that you can to track down the culprits behind this act of violence and prevent future destruction and tragedy.
