Target: Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson

Goal: Charge under the full extent of the law the officer who allegedly shot unarmed black man Jamar Clark who is now brain dead and on life support.

Jamar Clark, an unarmed black man in his 20s, was allegedly shot by police in Minneapolis and is now brain dead on life support in the hospital. Witnesses allege that Clark was handcuffed when he was shot, but police officers say he was not.

Police reported that they were called to an apartment complex for a reported assault. Upon their arrival, they said Clark was interfering with the reported assault victim, who was being attended to by paramedics. Police said they tried to calm Clark, but a scuffle started and a police officer shot Clark.

Witnesses say several people around the incident were also pepper sprayed. It seems every week there is another unarmed black person in America who is shot by police. Clark may not have died, but his life is essentially over now that he is brain dead and on life support.

Urge officials to charge under the full extent of the law the police officer who shot Jamar Clark if the officer committed this heinous crime.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Swanson,

Jamar Clark, an unarmed black man in his 20s, was allegedly shot by police in Minneapolis and is now brain dead on life support in the hospital. Clark may have even been handcuffed when he was shot. Although Clark is not dead, he almost may as well be now that he is brain dead and on life support.

It’s becoming increasingly common for police to shoot unarmed black people in America, and this alleged crime is made even more disgusting if the victim was handcuffed when shot. I urge you to charge under the full extent of the law the police officer who shot Jamar Clark if the officer committed this injustice.

Sincerely,
