Pardon Homeless Man for Rescuing Dog

Homeless-Man-and-Dog-By-Beverly-&-Pack

Target: Charles S. Crandall, Judge for the Superior Court of San Luis Obispo, California

Goal: Do not pursue charges against man for taking his dog out of a shelter and place dog in safe home.

A homeless man may be arrested for rescuing his dog. We need to take action to better ensure this man will be pardoned for this harmless crime.

Timothy Wilson Stoffle allegedly broke into an animal shelter in San Luis Obispo, California to retrieve the animal that authorities had taken from him. Nothing was missing and the shelter was not thought to be vandalized.

According to officials, the dog was placed in the shelter because it had bitten two people. While Stoffle was told he could keep the dog in a private kennel, he was unable to find a place where it could permanently reside. Without having money, access to a car or 24-hour Internet, trying to find this dog a home was likely extremely difficult.

Sign this petition and demand authorities help this man find a permanent home for his dog where it will be safe and properly cared for and that he be immediately pardoned if he is arrested and stands trial. No violent crime was committed and it is ridiculous to punish him when all he wanted was to once again have the company of his loving companion.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Judge Crandall,

A homeless man is being pursued by police because he reportedly broke into an animal shelter to rescue his dog. Since no damage was done to either the other animals or to the shelter, this man should be pardoned.

Authorities have stated that the dog was taken to the shelter because it was thought to be dangerous. Although Stoffle was given the option of putting the dog in a permanent kennel, he was not able to find a suitable place for the animal. This outcome may have been different if the man would have had access to an automobile, money or 24-hour Internet. However, because he is homeless, such obstacles likely became impossible to defeat.

There are real animal criminals who need to be pursued, such as those who organize and participate in dog fighting rings. More energy should be put into trying to find these criminals than in trying to find a homeless man who only tried to help his friend.

I therefore urge you to pardon Timothy Wilson Stoffle if it is learned he committed this alleged crime and to further ask authorities to help him find a suitable home for the animal. Most people who severely abuse animals are only given a petty fine so I find it both disgusting and unacceptable that someone who may have tried to help one could soon be behind bars.

Sincerely,

Let the man keep his dog! That’s all he has! I wouldn’t let my dog go without a fight!
