Target: Police Chief of Burmingham, Alabama A.C. Roper
Goal: Charge the mother of a one year old for negligence for the death of her daughter by the hand of an eight year old boy.
A woman in Alabama left her one year old daughter with a group of her roommate’s children who went out clubbing with her, all of whom were no older than the age of eight. When the eight-year-old son of Katerra Lewis’ became annoyed because he could not stop her daughter from crying, he viciously attacked the toddler and beat her to death. Neither women bothered to check the children when they returned at two in the morning, and the infant was not discovered to be unresponsive until after ten the next morning.
Police say that if the infant’s internal injuries and organ damage were discovered when the mothers returned, the young girl could have been taken to the hospital for treatment where she may have survived. Lewis was being held in custody for manslaughter, but was released on a $15,000 bond. Police say they are unsure the mother will be charged. Tell the Burmingham Police Department to charge both Katerra Lewis and her roommate for the negligence that lead to the death of an infant girl by the hand of a child.
Dear Police Chief A.C. Roper,
A tragic incident occurred recently in Birmingham that I’m sure you are aware of. A little one year old girl was murdered after being beaten to death by another eight year old child, after the infant’s mother Katerra Lewis left her child under a roommate’s children’s care. None of the children were over eight and none of the children were capable of caring for another infant child. Because of this, when the infant began crying inconsolably, the eight year old son of Lewis’ roommate became agitated enough to beat the child to death.
The women did not check the children when they returned home at two in the morning, and the child’s injuries were not discovered until after ten that same morning. Kelci suffered from severe head trauma and major internal organ damage, and authorities believe that if Kelci were found sooner and brought to the hospital for treatment, her death could have been prevented. Please ensure that Katerra Lewis and her roommate are charged to the furthest extent of the law for their negligence that led to the death of an infant girl by the hand of a child.
