Target: Florida State Attorney Jeffrey L. Ashton
Goal: Pursue maximum sentence for school resource officer who allegedly physically assaulted middle school student.
A police resource officer was reportedly shown in video footage slamming an 84-pound middle school student to the ground and twisting his arm for over 40 seconds. The child can be seen in the video writhing in pain. The officer allegedly assaulted the boy when he overheard him and his mother in a disagreement. He stepped in by using physical force, even though he had no right to and the situation was none of his business.
The officer was reportedly “relieved” from duty and an investigation was conducted, which showed he used excessive force and improper conduct. Investigators also said that the child did nothing to provoke this deplorable behavior from the resource officer.
His trial is coming up in December. Please urge the district attorney to do everything possible to aim for the maximum penalty for this abusive, out-of-control officer.
Dear Florida State Attorney Jeffrey L. Ashton,
A video reportedly shows a middle school resource officer grab a student, slam him to the ground, then twist his arm in a “torque” hold for over 40 seconds. Investigators say the innocent boy did nothing to provoke the officer and that the officer used excessive force.
This behavior must not be tolerated. Please do everything in your power to ensure he receives the most severe penalty, to help protect innocent students from abusive officers like him.
