Stop Logging in Panda Bear Habitat

Target: Xi Jinping, President of China and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China

Goal: Make it illegal to log where panda bears live.

Panda bears are allegedly dying due to illegal logging practices. We need to take action to try and ensure these beautiful animals do not go extinct as a result of their home being chopped down.

Greenpeace Asia claims that 3,200 acres of forest trees have already been illegally cut down. An area in China, known as the Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, is where 30 percent of all panda bears live. Other endangered species also live in this area, including the clouded leopard, the snow leopard, and the red panda bear.

Greenpeace Asia believes the illegal logging is taking place because a loophole in the law allows small areas of the forest to be logged. Unfortunately, many businesses may be taking advantage of this exception to the rule in order to try and yield higher profits. Panda bears will likely go extinct if the law is not strengthened. To discourage others from illegally chopping down these trees, it is important that people who break the logging law are subject to severe legal consequences.

Sign this petition and demand that all loopholes in the law be closed and that people who break this law be legally punished. Panda bears and other endangered species do not deserve to lose their home because some people don’t care whether or not they live or die.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Jinping,

A great amount of logging is suspected to be taking place on protected land where panda bears live. If this logging does not stop, these gentle giants will likely go extinct.

Greenpeace Asia estimates that 3,200 trees have been chopped down in the Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries. Illegal logging not only adversely impacts panda bears but also greatly impacts other endangered animals that live in the region, such as the snow leopard, the clouded leopard, and the red panda bear.

Although it is illegal to log in the Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, a loophole in the law may be the reason why such a great amount of logging in this area is taking place. The only way to better ensure that panda bears and other endangered animals won’t go extinct is to strengthen the current law and to make all logging in any such habitats illegal. People caught using illegal logging practices also need to be severely penalized under law in order to prevent others from doing this in the future.

It is for these reasons that I encourage you to demand that no more logging take place in areas where panda bears live and to also demand that anyone caught breaking this law face legal consequences. If we don’t do something now, these amazing animals may be gone tomorrow.

Sincerely,

  1. end all logging where the pandas call home now.

  2. Mark McKendrick says:

Stop the logging in the Panda habitat.
Polite note to the author: they’re not bears.

  3. There should be NO logging where the precious endangered Giant Panda, as well as the Red Panda, Clouded Leopard and Snow Leopard live! It’s criminal! Strengthen the law and punished illegal logging, severely! Do not allow these endangered animals to become extinct!

Polite note to MARK MC (from the above post): Although there used to be questions as to the true classification of the Giant Panda, whether a member of the the bear or racoon family (like the Red Panda), as of 2015, they is no debate. They are considered BEARS, of the Ursidae family. They are considered carnivores, even though they have an herbivore diet of mainly bamboo (they, also, eat some meat) and don’t hibernate.

  4. Please stop the logging.

  5. ALL I SEE IS GREED GREED GREED

  6. Rebecca Winsor says:

It would be great personal shame for the Chinese people if they lose this animal. It is of such iconic significance in China & its loss would also indicate very significant degradation in the environment that supports the panda.

  7. The fact the Chinese Government continues to allow illegal logging to continue confirms that Chinese leaders are weak and have no control of their country.
The illegal loggers are more powerful than the Chinese Government.
This is a shameful fact that should embarrass their government leaders. THEY ARE WEAK! THEY ARE NOT IN CONTROL! THEY ARE SHAMEFUL TO THEIR PEOPLE.

THE WHOLE WORLD SEES THEIR SHAME AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA DO NOT RESPECT THEM. WE SEE THEM AS FOOLS WHO CANNOT RULE THEIR COUNTRY.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR THEM TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THEIR GOVERNMENT AND COUNTRY AND STOP ILLEGAL LOGGING AND REGAIN THEIR RESPECT.

  8. David Lavery says:

The Chinese encourage poaching of Tigers, Rhinos and Elephants in other countries, they have no compassion for animals so I cant imagine them helping Pandas. The Chinese are sadistic, inhuman savages, I hate them.

    • Hi David Lavery like Cecily Colloby said you took the words right out of my mouth. I live in Burnaby, B.C. Canada & am considered a minority shame on the Canadian Government for letting people in that contribute anything to our society. They come over w/ no money & their hands out for any freebie they can get & don’t even learn English b4 they come ofter. I am now a stranger in my own Country. Take care Coreen

  9. China only cares about the pandas it can breed in controlled environments and lease out to overseas zoos for exorbitant sums of money. They are the biggest environmental terrorists on the planet and pretty much have a hand in all the horrors affecting the natural world from elephant and rhino decimation to oil drilling in the Amazon. Shirley Nicholas and Dusan Kustudic you are spot on with your comments. Human over-population is the single biggest issue facing the planet – where’s a good pandemic when you need one.

David Lavery, you took the words right out of my mouth…..

  11. Clearly, they’re not safe out there — bring them ALL into a Sanctuary — of course, check for any diseases, do everything to ensure that no one gets chlamydia, etc., BUT above all, do NOT kill these beautiful animals — treat them, care for them, love them & respect them — ALSO, save their habitat — do whatever it takes to rid the environment of any disease, if that even exists — DO NOT ALLOW LOGGERS & OTHER SIMILAR COMPANIES TO TAKE FROM YOUR LAND & NOT PUT ANYTHING BACK IN — they take your logs & what do you get? — How is this ever sustainable! — The koalas & other wild animals need their natural environment for their homes — what are these animals to do! — If this horror keeps us, not only will communities be destroyed, human & animal alike, but so will our earth — our planet will be destroyed & doomed if we allow these callous companies to do as they please.

  12. “So many people insist they are against animal abuse, cruelty, suffering and the inhumane treatment of animals, yet they don’t understand they are actively engaging in and supporting egregious suffering, abuse, cruelty and inhumane treatment when they eat animals and their ‘by-products.’ If you are against cruelty, suffering and inhumane treatment, then you go vegan. It’s just that simple.” – Sarah Kiser
