Target: Ghor, Afghanistan Governor Sima Joinda
Goal: Help stop the inhumane practice of stoning.
A horrific video that surfaced online, showing a young woman being stoned to death by Taliban militants, has been confirmed as legitimate by a spokesman for Ghor’s Governor. Ghor is a Taliban-controlled province of Afghanistan. The woman had apparently been married off by her family against her will and then she was caught “eloping” with another man, who was only given a lashing as punishment. Sadly, this won’t be the last female victim of senseless murder by stoning.
This horrific, barbaric, and inhumane treatment of people is cruel and unusual punishment and must not be allowed to continue. We must put increasing pressure on Afghanistan to stop this torturous treatment of women. Please sign the petition to demand that stoning women to death be stopped immediately.
Dear Ghor, Afghanistan, Governor Sima Joinda,
A video online shows a young woman being stoned to death by the Taliban. Her audible screams and cries ring out as heartless men throw rocks at her. Her only crime was eloping with a man after her family married her off against her will. The man’s only punishment was a lashing.
We won’t turn a blind eye to your torturous, violent practices against women, not only because they’re cruel and unusual punishment but also because the so-called crimes of these people are not deserving of a death penalty. It’s unjustifiable murder that cannot be tolerated. We urge you to do everything in your power to stop the sick practice of violence and murder against women instantly.
