Target: Bill Montgomery, Maricopa County, Arizona Attorney
Goal: Give maximum sentence to man who allegedly left his granddaughter in a desert with a gun.
A man allegedly left his granddaughter alone in a desert with a gun. We need to take action to better ensure this man gets the maximum sentence if he is found guilty.
Authorities reported that, after leaving his granddaughter, Paul Rater walked to the local bar to enjoy dinner and a few beers. The little girl was later found crying in the desert holding a loaded .45 pistol. To make matters even worse, the safety on the gun was off. According to the little girl, she was given the gun by her grandfather to “shoot bad guys.”
Considering the child could have been kidnapped, attacked and killed by a wild animal, or passed out due to anxiety or heat, committing such a crime is inexcusable.
Sign this petition and demand that the county attorney suggest the maximum punishment be given to the girl’s grandfather if he is committed for this very heartless crime. Children don’t deserve to be abandoned by the people who they trust the most.
Dear County Attorney Montgomery,
A man allegedly left his granddaughter in a desert by herself with a loaded gun. It is important that he get the maximum sentence if it is determined that he committed this crime.
It is thought that the child was not only left alone with a gun but that she was also left alone with a gun that had the safety off. The gun was supposedly given to her to “shoot bad guys.” She very easily could have shot herself or died as a result of other dangerous means.
The grandfather apparently told police that his truck had broken down and that the little girl was not capable of walking. However, if this had been the case, he could have carried the child while he walked to go get help. Instead, it was reported that he went to go grab some beers and a cheeseburger at a bar.
It is for these reasons that I strongly encourage you to suggest that this man be given the maximum sentence under law if he is found guilty of committing this very inexcusable crime. A child should never be placed in such a dangerous and vulnerable situation.
