Success: Woman Faces Murder Charges After Driving Through Parade

Target: Payne County District Attorney Laura Austin-Thomas

Goal: Applaud decision to charge alleged drunk driver with murder when she drove into a busy parade.

Adacia Chambers, a 25-year-old woman, is being charged for allegedly driving under the influence and murdering bystanders when she plowed through a crowd at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade. She is accused of killing four people as well as injuring dozens. She is currently being held in jail on four counts of second-degree murder and could face life in prison if prosecuted. Many of those injured were children, with 11 of them being under the age of 13. With the help of the ForceChange community and the actions of Oklahoma officials, this woman faces harsh charges for her reckless actions.

Authorities stated that the lives lost included that of a toddler, a graduate student of the university, and a couple that had worked at the school for decades. Forty-seven people were treated after the accident, four of them being in critical condition. Applaud the attorney that has demanded such harsh charges for Adacia.

Dear Attorney General Austin-Thomas,

The tragic event that occurred at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade this year will not easily be forgotten. Many people were permanently impacted by this crash, with four lives lost including an elderly couple dedicated to their work at the university and the two-year-old son of another school employee. Dozens of others were injured with a total of 47 people treated after the crash, 17 hospitalized, and four in critical condition. Adacia Chambers, the 25-year-old alleged drunk driver, was recently taken into police custody and is being charged with four counts of second-degree murder thanks to you.

I want to thank you for all of the work you have put into ensuring that justice is received for this horrific accident and those responsible. While those lives can never be returned, it is still reassuring to know that the driver responsible could face harsh punishment. I hope that you work to have Adacia Chambers properly prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Ensure that the families of the dead and injured receive proper justice by prosecuting Adacia Chambers with the alleged crime of which she is accused.
