Stop Sale of Fur and Angora at Major Retailer

Fur Jean-Luc Rodier

Target: Sarah Benady, Executive Director North America, The Kooples

Goal: End the sale and use of angora and fur.

Many major brands including Forever 21 and Calvin Klein have been ending their use of angora and fur, however The Kooples, an international retailer, still uses the coats of animals. Animals used for their fur are often confined to small cages with limited access to food and water. Disease spreads like wildfire due to the cramped and dirty conditions typically found at fur farms.

Rabbits at angora fur farms have their fur ripped, plucked or torn from their bodies every three months. This all happens while they are still conscious. Sometimes the pain can be so much the rabbits go into shock and they are unable to move their bodies. This goes on until they die from disease or neglect or are killed.

Animals used for their coats have to be killed. Common ways to kill these animals are electrocution, suffocation and poisoning. Their lives before they are killed are typically unhappy ones.

The Kooples is a major retailer that sells to people all over the world. Sign this petition and tell their Executive Director for the North America sector to end The Kooples’ use and sale of all angora and fur.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Sarah Benady,

Your brand, The Kooples, is a major brand that reaches people all over the world and has major international influence. However, The Kooples still uses angora and fur on some of their products. Many brands have decided to end their use of angora and fur, including Forever 21, H&M and Calvin Klein. I encourage you to educate yourself on typical practices that occur at fur farms and to consider making the change and end the use of animal fur.

Animals used for their fur are often confined to small, dirty cages with limited access to food and water. Disease spreads like wildfire due to the cramped and dirty conditions. Angora rabbits have their fur plucked, ripped or torn from their bodies every three months while still conscious. Sometimes the pain can be so intense that the rabbits will go into shock and are unable to move their bodies. Animals used for their fur coats are killed. Common ways to kill animals on fur farms are suffocation, poisoning and electrocution. The lives of animals on fur farms are not happy ones.

I encourage you to look further into typical fur farm conditions. I am hoping that you consider ending your use of angora and fur like many other retailers have. No animal should have to go through this torture just for an article of clothing.

Sincerely,

In today’s world there is no longer any need for anyone to have fur or leather of any kind. Time to stop killing animals for fashion.
