Target: United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch
Goal: Launch a thorough investigation into the domestic terrorist attacks on Planned Parenthood clinics.
There have been five domestic terrorist attacks on Planned Parenthood clinics since July 2015. The most recent attack was in Claremont, New Hampshire, in which someone broke into the Planned Parenthood health center and used a hatchet to destroy exam rooms as well as medical equipment. Disturbingly, water and sewer lines were tampered with and destroyed, flooding the center entirely. Domestic terrorism should not be tolerated and should be taken as seriously as threats coming from outside the United States borders, yet these events have been attracting little attention.
These events cannot be ignored any longer. A domestic terrorism investigation needs to be launched immediately by the Department of Justice so that women can feel safe when dealing with their health needs. Sign this petition to demand the Department of Justice and Attorney General Loretta Lynch stop ignoring the attacks on Planned Parenthood and launch an investigation.
Dear United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch,
I am writing this petition letter to you to ask that you launch a thorough investigation into the domestic terrorist attacks on Planned Parenthood clinics–of which there have been five since July. These attacks represent more than just the destruction of property- they are an affront on women’s health and the assumption that women cannot make the right decisions for themselves in regards to their own bodies and their own health issues.
The media has largely ignored these attacks, but this does not mean that the Department of Justice needs to. The Department of Justice has recently created a Domestic Terrorism division in which the appropriate resources can be utilized in order to conduct a fair and thorough investigation.
It is important that the Justice Department investigates these attacks to send a message to the American public that attacks on women’s health will not be tolerated. Women who are receiving breast exams, STD tests, pap smears, and consultations on their pregnancies should not have to fear that they will be a victim of an attack by someone who does not understand how much Planned Parenthood does to ensure that they are healthy and making smart decisions about their future. I urge you to launch an investigation as soon as possible.
