Target: Williamsburg, Brooklyn New York Chief of Detectives Robert K. Boyce
Goal: Conduct honest investigation into school in the case of a child who was allegedly left to choke until she became brain dead.
A 7-year-old girl is reportedly brain dead and now on life-support after she choked on her school lunch. Her parents says she was aware that the staff were rushing kids during lunch and they suspect their daughter was trying to eat too quickly in an attempt to finish in time when she choked. The medic said he believes she’d been choking for at least five minutes because she was already turning blue. He also noted that people were screaming, but nobody at the school bothered to help her or do anything.
The child’s family lawyer who’s considering filing a lawsuit is concerned about the lack of information the school has provided and he stated that the first emergency call was from the medic who stopped, not the school. It’s possible the school never bothered calling for help at all.
The only reason the poor girl got help when she did was because a private EMT happened to be passing by and was flagged down by school staff members. The medic was reportedly suspended from his job for stopping to try and save the girl’s life because workers aren’t supposed to respond to emergencies unless they’ve been called.
There’s no reason for public school staff to not have the necessary training and knowledge to handle this sort of incident. They didn’t even bother to properly call 911, which is inexcusable. They were completely disorganized and it may have cost this girl’s life. They should face repercussions for their neglectful behavior. As the girl’s family lawyer stated, an honest investigation needs to be conducted and not a “cover-your-back” investigation. Please demand that a transparent, honest investigation be conducted against the school.
Dear Williamsburg, New York Chief of Detectives Robert K. Boyce,
A 7-year-old girl is on life support and is brain dead after choking for around five minutes on her school lunch. According to the medic — who was flagged down by school staff — the girl received no help and was left to choke for so long that she was blue. He also stated that nobody was helping her. The family lawyer says the first emergency call came from the medic, and not the school. The school’s severe neglect is likely what cost this poor little girl her life.
The school staff should’ve been equipped and trained to handle this issue, but instead they were completely disorganized. Their behavior is inexcusable. Please ensure that an honest investigation is conducted against them to find out if they should be held responsible.
