Success: Road Rage Shooter Brought to Justice

Target: Gorden Eden, Police Chief of Albuquerque, New Mexico

Goal: Praise arrest of shooter that killed 4-year-old girl in road rage incident.

Tony Torrez, a 32-year-old man, has confessed to the shooting and accidental death of 4-year-old Lilly Garcia. He has been brought into police custody thanks to an anonymous phone call offering information on the suspect’s name. Along with other community tips, the police were able to track down Torrez. A ForceChange petition had even urged the police to find and charge Torrez for his reckless and devastating crime. Applaud the fact that this shooter is finally in custody.

Officer Simon Drobik reported that the incident began when two vehicles cut each other off on Interstate 40. A short while later, one of the drivers pulled up alongside the pick-up truck the little girl was riding in and opened fire on the freeway, firing multiple shots. Her father had just picked her up from school along with her 7-year-old brother, who was in the back seat beside her when she was shot.

Sign this petition to ensure that Tony Torrez is not allowed freedom on bail and is fully prosecuted for the charged crimes of an open count of murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, assault with the intent to commit a violent felony, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, child abuse, child abuse resulting in death, and tampering with evidence.

Dear Chief Eden,

First of all, I would like to thank you for the diligent work that you and your fellow officers have committed to finding the murderer of 4-year-old Lilly Garcia. Thankfully, due to an anonymous phone call and community tips, the suspect has been identified as Tony Torrez. He has confessed to the murder of the 4-year-old girl.

Torrez has been charged with an open count of murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and other equally offensive crimes such as child abuse. He currently has a set cash-only bail of $650,000 but even this amount of money is an unequal trade for the senseless theft of the life of a child. I want to make sure that this man is not allowed back into public society without receiving the proper justice he deserves for the senseless violence he committed that resulted in the death of a daughter, a sister, and a vibrant young girl. Please ensure that Torrez is not released on bail without the proper prosecution and trial necessary to bring justice to this man.
