Target: Julia Meyer, spokeswoman for the prosecutors in the case against Volkswagen
Goal: Applaud the suspension of four employees linked to the federal emissions test cheating scandal and the ongoing investigation that could put more officials up against consequences.
Thanks in part to petitions like ForceChange’s Punish Volkswagen for Polluting Environment by Cheating Emissions Tests, four Volkswagen employees have been suspended and the former U.S. Chief as well as others are being investigated regarding a federal emissions test cheating scandal. Police raided VW headquarters as well as some private apartments in order to secure documents that would point to which VW officials knew about the cheating of federal emissions standards.
The raids came shortly after Volkswagen’s US chief faced Congress to admit that he knew more than a year ago that the group’s cars possibly breached pollution rules. At first, VW officials claimed they knew nothing about the devices installed in vehicles to fake passing federal emission standards tests.
A company that allowed its vehicles to emit more than 40 times the federal standards of emissions deserves everything it has coming to it. Damaging the environment and endangering public health are serious offenses. Applaud the action being taken against this company for its lies.
Dear Spokeswoman Meyer,
I applaud you for having investigations carried out to find which officials are responsible for knowledge of the federal emissions standards cheating scandal at Volkswagen. It’s reassuring that four employees have already been suspended for leaks in the lying scandal, and I hope that more are found and punished for this disaster.
Companies cannot operate thinking they can get away with anything, especially something as huge as damaging our world. I applaud the action being taken against this company for its lies.
