Target: John Jay Hoffman, Attorney General of New Jersey
Goal: Help ensure maximum sentence is given to man who slit deer’s throat and committed other neglectful animal cruelty crimes if he is found guilty.
A baby deer’s throat was allegedly slashed by an animal control officer. Activists need to take action to try and ensure the accused individual is given the maximum penalty under law so that he is less able to hurt innocent animals in the near future.
The person who was thought to commit this crime–Vincent Ascolese–is a supervisor at the North Jersey Humane Society Shelter in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He has also been charged with 14 acts of animal cruelty. Unfortunately, it has been reported that the man neglected the animals where he worked by not providing them with proper housing, food or care.
The stabbed deer was only injured and may have survived if it had been given the proper medical treatment and care.
Sign this petition and urge the attorney general to do everything in his power to ensure this individual gets the maximum sentence for these crimes if he is found guilty. No animal should ever have to suffer because of unethical treatment, especially by someone who has been entrusted to provide animals with the best treatment possible.
Dear Attorney General Hoffman,
An animal control officer has been accused of slitting the throat of an injured baby deer that could have possibly been saved if it had gotten the proper help. It is important that he get the maximum penalty under law if he is found guilty of this and other horrible animal cruelty crimes in order to better ensure that he will be less able to hurt more innocent animals in the future.
Vincent Ascolese of the North Jersey Humane Society in New Jersey has been brought up on 14 animal cruelty charges. It is alleged that many other animals also suffered because they were not given adequate housing, food or care at the shelter.
The Humane Society is an organization that advocates for animal welfare. Therefore, as the supervisor of a Humane Society shelter, Ascolese should be held to the highest standards when it comes to caring for animals.
For all of these reasons, I urge you to suggest that this man be given the maximum sentence under law if he is found guilty of such thoughtless crimes. Animals deserve better than to be abused by the people who are supposed to be taking care of them.
